Knaresborough Castle.

Castle Yard, Knaresborough HG5 8AS

You may be pleasantly surprised about Knaresborough Castle; it was an absolute delight to see it and enjoy it even though the curtain wall was largely missing.

The grounds are well looked after and there are ample information boards dotted about. There are fabulous views of the river.

It was free to go into the grounds but was £3.50 to go into the tower and the museum for both but this included a tour of the tunnel which was very enjoyable. The guide, Sally was absolutely brilliant and explained the use and history of the tunnel with a wealth of information and facts. She was a delight to listen to.

The museum although small had artifacts that were rare and very interesting. The courthouse area is a must to see, also the civil war helmet, sword, and breastplate. There are many other items of interest.

The tour of the underground tunnel rounded off our visit and the information from Sally the guide, made our visit here at Knaresborough castle one of our favorites so far from the many castles that we visit.
